Terms of Service
Welcome to FlashLeap. By downloading, installing, or using the FlashLeap application ("the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Use of the Service
FlashLeap provides a flashcard study tool with spaced repetition, AI card generation, and cloud sync features. You may use the app for personal, non-commercial educational purposes.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. FlashLeap cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage from your failure to comply with this security obligation.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
To protect the service from abuse, FlashLeap uses Apple's App Attest / DeviceCheck (via Firebase App Check) to verify that requests originate from a genuine, unmodified copy of the FlashLeap app on a real Apple device. No personal information is collected through this attestation; only an anonymous device-integrity token is generated by Apple and validated by our backend.
3. User Content
You retain ownership of all flashcard decks, cards, and media you create. By using cloud sync or sharing features, you grant FlashLeap a limited license to store, transmit, and display your content as necessary to provide the service.
You agree not to create or share content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.
4. AI-Generated Content
FlashLeap offers AI-powered card generation using Google's Gemini language model as the underlying processor. When you use AI features, the source text or topic you provide is transmitted through our secure backend to Google's Generative Language API for processing, and the generated cards are returned to your device. Google processes this content under its API terms; FlashLeap does not retain the request body after the response is returned.
AI-generated content is provided "as is" and may contain factual errors, hallucinations, or outdated information. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy of AI-generated flashcards before studying or relying on them. Do not submit confidential, private, or sensitive personal information as input to the AI generator.
AI generation is rate-limited per user per month. Limits differ between guest, free, and Pro accounts and may change over time.
5. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases
FlashLeap Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase through the Apple App Store. The app also offers consumable in-app purchases (heart packs, AI generation packs). Current prices and plan options are shown in the app at the time of purchase — the price displayed in the App Store at that moment is authoritative and may vary by region, currency, and Apple's local tax handling.
Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the then-current price.
Managing or cancelling: You can manage your subscription, view your renewal date, or turn off auto-renew at any time from your Apple ID's Subscriptions settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on iOS). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; we do not issue refunds for partial periods.
Free trials: If a free trial is offered, any unused portion of a trial period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Consumable purchases: Heart packs and AI generation packs are one-time purchases that grant a fixed quantity of in-app currency. Once consumed within the app, they cannot be restored or refunded. They never expire while your account is active.
Refunds: All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be made directly to Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com.
What Pro unlocks: Pro features are clearly labelled in the app. Free features remain available without a Pro subscription. We may add, remove, or adjust which features require Pro over time, but we will not retroactively remove features from existing lifetime purchasers without offering an equivalent.
Subscription account binding: Each App Store subscription is bound to the FlashLeap account that first activates it. Signing in to a different FlashLeap account on the same Apple ID will not transfer Pro access — only the originally linked account retains the subscription benefits for the duration of the subscription term. If you delete the originally linked account, the subscription becomes available to a new FlashLeap account on the same Apple ID.
6. Rewarded Ads
The app may offer optional rewarded video ads to grant additional in-app benefits (such as +1 AI generation or a one-time streak save). Ads are served by Google AdMob and are entirely optional — you choose when to watch one. Pro subscribers are never shown ads. Daily and weekly caps apply to prevent excessive ad consumption.
7. Sharing & Collaboration
When you share a deck, other users can import a copy. Your display name is attached as the author. Share codes expire after 30 days. You are responsible for the content you share.
8. Prohibited Uses
You may not:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service
- Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
- Use the app to distribute spam, malware, or harmful content
- Scrape or harvest data from the service
- Attempt to bypass App Check, rate limits, or other abuse-prevention measures
- Submit content to the AI generator that is unlawful, harmful, or that violates Google's Generative AI Use Policies
9. Intellectual Property
The FlashLeap app, including its design, code, and branding, is the intellectual property of FlashLeap. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the app without prior written permission.
10. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Deleted accounts enter a 90-day recovery period before permanent deletion. Cancelling a Pro subscription does not delete your account; cancelling continues access until the end of the paid period and then reverts the account to the free tier.
11. Disclaimers
FlashLeap is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any defects will be corrected.
Educational content created by you or generated by AI is not a substitute for professional instruction.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FlashLeap shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, arising from your use of the app.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of FlashLeap after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
